Class 67 plus Mk 3 DVT…?

There is speculation that Mk 3 DVT 82146 currently at Toton is to be modified for trails in push pull mode with a Class 67. This could be an interesting or disappointing development depending on your point of view...

the avove was lifteds from the end of the line site

could this be for the s&c??

More than likely for the S & C. I heard this rumour from a couple of sources a few weeks ago.Seems like they were correct and the surplus of 67's will hasten the demise of the 37's if the trials are successful.

The major delay in converting the ATN service to 67s has been the lack of sourcing a suitable DVT. Looks like one has been found. Chris D.

DVT trials…

Further to yesterday's report is transpires that DVT 82146 at Toton is to be modified to allow it to work in push pull mode with both Class 37s and Class 67s. In what appears to be a quite complex issue involving the SRA, track access charges and one or two operating companies it would seem that an increase in locomotive hauled commuter type passenger trains utilising Mk 2 coaching stock and driving van trailers may be on the cards. If the trial is successful, the conversion to work with a Class 67 being a tad easier to do than for the Class 37, a whole vista of possibilities opens up. A return of the club train workings in the North West would be a sensible move and hopefully this is an option to be considered. In addition there is the unconfirmed news that nodding donkey's, sorry Class 142s, only have two years left but that's another matter...

Expected at HM JAN/FEB 2004 for driver training and trials over the S+C.

PS The train was almost full on Saturday 29th November.
A good day out in spite of a twenty minute late start due to ludicrous diversion of empty stock via Huddersfield!
