Can you help me please?

What is the purpose of the electrified line adjacent to the Wakefield/Hudds main line?

Asked everyone I know and drawn a blank.

This short length of overhead electric line was put up by Balfour Beatty Ltd so that their engineers could practice the erection of masts and installing overhead line before putting this experience to use on the Leeds station rebuilding project.
AFAIK it has never been live.

I thought it was around before the Leeds rebuild, and was used for similiar purposes for the Aire Valley electrification. Anyone else remember? Chris D.
